School We all know how important school is to our ski racer’s and this is therefore an important inclusion in Peak Ski Racing Academy for the school period from February to March. Students will study their curriculum from their individual schools in allocated time blocks based on achieving 12hrs of school time with one of two options:
Option One: User pays at Picaboo Street Academy - https://picabostreetacademy.com/ Being a top athlete, and student is highly demanding and requires balance – Picabo Street Academy offers a solution.
STUDENT ATHLETE/ARTIST – Picabo Street Academy provides a unique education model where students can succeed in school AND their sport or art without compromising the quality of either. – This model is suited to any student with an extracurricular passion: sport, dance, music, etc. – Parents can relax in the knowledge that their child will not be sacrificing their future education opportunities as they pursue their dreams. ENRICHED BLENDED MODEL – Picabo Street Academy provides an integrated virtual curriculum and classroom environment. – Live teachers provide support in Park City classrooms through face to face, one to one and small group teaching, in conjunction with virtual curriculum delivery. – Picabo Street Academy staff develops an individual plan for each student, taking the learning style and demands of their extracurricular activity into account; the plan can be adjusted as need or opportunity arises.
Option Two: Included in Training Fee's Tutor Access at The Ranch Option Two will also study their curriculum from their individual schools in allocated time blocks based on achieving 12hrs of school time per week however this will take place at the ranch with access to subject specific teachers/tutors for Maths and English.
With either option it is the athletes responsibilities to ensure that they follow the same processes, responsibilities and accountabilities that they would when attending school in Australia: - Athletes communicate weekly with their teachers to understand their weekly deliverables - Athletes submit their work weekly and meet all school deadlines - Athletes communicate with Peak/Picaboo when they require help with a project/assignement/task/upcoming test/exam/quiz
Tracie will meet with your relevant school contact to provide background and to aid management of school requirements prior to the start of the season. Communication from the school to Peak/Picaboo Academy when work is missing or of an lower than acceptable standard is important to ensure athletes do not fall behind in Term 1.
Peak will restrict ski training if the agreed school deliverables are not being met.
Athletes have a dedicated school locker to keep their books with either option to ensure they do not misplace a critical component of their schooling.
